Thames Water - Thames Tunnel Consultation

Correspondence received 14 November 2011

Update: 11 Jan 2012: Proposed plans show tunnel running under Riverview Gardens (see page 5)

Fulham Reach - Project director announced.

It would appear that this letter was not delivered in Riverview Gardens. Here is a copy of the note sent to other local residents.

Project Director - Introduction

West London River Group

Residents of Riverview Gardens may wish to join the West London River Group. The group is designed to keep a track of the issues that affect the Thames (and its borders) between Kew and Chelsea.  Further details are available on its website.

Changes to Visitor Parking on Riverview Gardens

Richmond Council have launched a new parking system called "RingGo". This allows you to preregister (up to 5 phone numbers) that are able to 'book' a parking session.

The existing scratch card system appears to still be available.

Communal Gardens

We have been asked to remind all occupiers that whilst individual household garden furniture may be used in the communal gardens it should be taken away at the end of the day. There is a growing tendency for individuals’ furniture to be left in the garden around the communal benches and other facilities making it difficult for others to use these. Your cooperation in this matter would be appreciated.

Playground

May we please remind you that parents or other responsible adults should accompany children at all times whilst they use the playground area.

Refuse Collection Times

Refuse can be left in the common parts for collection on the following times:

Mon-Fri before 8am or after 10pm
Sat before 8am
Sunday after 10pm

During the summer months in particular it is important that household refuse is disposed of in a manner that does not adversely affect other occupiers on the Estate.  All non recyclable household refuse should be put in the paladins provided when not collected by the Estate staff.  Refuse should be double wrapped where necessary and must not be left either outside the porters office at the bridge end or the pavement outside the garage at the Harrods end.  The garage door must be kept shut.

Recycling

We aim to increase the amount of recycling in Riverview Gardens making full use of the council provided facilities

Glass and Newspapers: We urge everybody to bag bottles and jars separately for recycling (and safety)

Plastics: The porters have agreed that plastic bottles (e.g. water, milk, washing up liquid and shampoo etc) can be placed with the glass recycling that they already collect.

Cardboard: is collected, by the porters, as general rubbish and not for recycling.

Tins: are collected, by the porters, as general rubbish only

Please observe the refuse collection times stated above. Glass, Newspapers and plastic bottles for recycling will be collected alongside the general rubbish every day but not Mondays.

Everyone can make use of the recycling bins themselves for all the above items. These are located as follows:

In the garden at the back of the porter’s office next to 1 Riverview Gardens for: Glass, Newspapers, Cardboard (small items only), Plastic bottles, Tins. Also there is a paper shredder in the porter’s office.

In the Garage next to 77/79 Riverview Gardens, Cardboard (any size), Plastic bottles.

Recycle as much as you are able to - and if you have any ideas please let us know. There are compost bins available at sites in Riverview Gardens.

Security Reminders

1. Reminder to all occupants that, in the interests of safety, the main front door must be left shut. Leaving the door open is compromises the security of all the flats in the block. The door should not be propped open or left on the latch, and any builders or other tradesmen must uphold this. Should the porters see an open door with no signs of activity then they will close it.

2. Theft of valuables from cars. Be careful not to leave valuables visible in cars including items such as GPSs and purses.

3. Residents are reminded to double lock the bicycle door.

4. The road has become a hotspot for bicycle thefts.  Do not leave your bike vulnerable on the street, store it in the bike shed.

5. Close the communal garden gates behind you.
